Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. A day we all gather around with your family and feast on some good mashed potatoes with some gravy and corn. I would say turkey, but I don’t eat red meat. Thanksgiving is a day to give thanks to your loved ones. Whether they are still in your life or just went separate ways because of new experiences and opportunities. The people you have met in your life are the people that have shaped you to be the person you are today.
I couldn’t thank my parents enough for giving me so many goals to chase and teaching me to never give up. All things don’t come easy. They have done everything to give my brothers and I a wonderful life and always have given us opportunities to do the things we love. No matter what it was they helped us to follow our dreams. They have made me grow up and become a strong independent young lady. I work hard for what I love and do everything to achieve my goals every day. Little by little I will get there with hard work.
Half of my friends I have met in the beginning of my high school years are my closest friends today. I am now twenty and have kept all my high school friends close. They have been there for me through the rough makeup and bad hair years. The braces and glasses years. Through the tears and the bad breakups, through the laughs and the endless nights of doing stupid shit we never knew we could think of.
But be thankful of the little things like food on your plate, a roof over your head. Not everyone has that. Be kind to people, help people. Try to do something nice once a week to someone random this holiday season. Whether it’s buy the car behind you in the drive thru at Tim Hortons or even as easy as giving a random person a nice compliment on something they are wearing or how their hair looks. A bunch of little things make a huge difference in the end.
Life is good. Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving!
