Hello friends! As summer is slowly coming to an end I decided to do a little reflection on Summer 2018; discussing what memories I made, the people I’ve met and what I’ve learned. Overall, this summer has been awesome! I was able to go to a lot of concerts and spend time with my friends, while also having a lot of eye-opening experiences.
Let’s start with the positives. I worked a lot and I love my job. It is awesome working 40 hours somewhere you love. For those who are new to my blog, I’m Devan and I work with dogs. I work at a dog daycare and boarding and I’m completely in love with it. We have so many awesome dogs and my job proved that you don’t have to have a human as your best friend. There’s this one dog named Emma who she is literally my best friend. She gets so excited to see me every time I come in and it is the best feeling in the world. I also work with awesome people and some of those people I got really close with this summer turned out to being some of my closest friends. I am also in charge of their Instagram and Snapchat, so that’s pretty cool. Lastly, my bosses are amazing. They are so cool and understanding and always want you to succeed in your goals and help you improve in whatever you need help with, even if it doesn’t have to do with work!
Next, are all the concerts I went to this summer. There were quite a bit. I went to…
- Kendrick Lamar with SchoolBoy Q (my high school self was screaming)
- Taste of Country (which is a day music festival, where a handful of artist come. Thomas Rhett came, so my heart was happy.)
- Logic (probably my favorite rapper)
- Jason Aldean
- Dierks Bentley
Then in October, I will be seeing the Neighbourhood and Joywave for the second time and I am pumped.
I am the type of person that lives their lives through concerts. When I am watching artists live that is probably when I am the most happy. It is awesome just thinking these artist worked their butts off writing a song and the audience is literally screaming their lyrics back to them. It has to be such an amazing moment for the artists. It’s a cool concept to think about. Also, you’re with your closest friends just jamming out and having a great time.
Also, this summer I was really working out regularly. I was hitting the gym almost every day and pushing myself to do stuff I usually wouldn’t do. I used to care about people watching me work out at the gym and this summer I really didn’t care. It was also nice seeing myself improve and go up in weight when I was lifting.
As much as this summer was a lot of fun, a lot of stressful things happened as well. Alec and I went through a rough patch, we are all good now. But, there was a period where we went a few weeks without talking. I learned that not all breaks are bad and actually in this case it was good. Luckily we worked it out and all is well.
Another stressful thing is figuring out what my next step is. I got my two year degree in Communications and I wasn’t going to go to a four year school to continue. As right now, I’m pretty stressed about what to do next. As of now, I think I’m going to go back to school. I am only 21 and I have my whole life ahead of me, so I was thinking business. I have time to think it over and make sure it is the right next move, but there is no rush, so I am taking things day by day.
This summer I wanted to do a lot of traveling and honestly sadly I can’t say I did a lot. As much as I love traveling I really wanted to pick up hours and just make money. I am planning to go camping soon and then I am going to Georgia in the Fall. So, I will get a little traveling in then.
Overall, this summer was great. I am very happy with all the memories I have created this summer and they are memories I will never forget. So here’s to the end of Summer and the beginning to the best season ever, Fall!
